Presiden Joko Widodo (Jokowi) dijadwalkan akan mengunjungi Jalan Liang Melas sepanjang 37,2 kilometer di Kecamatan Mardingding, Kabupaten Karo pada Jumat (4/2/2022) untuk melihat pembangunannya.
Diketahui, pengerjaan Jalan Liang Melas Datas awal tahun 2022 sudah berjalan menggunakan dana APBN sebesar Rp164,8 miliar.
Deputi II Kantor Staf Presiden, Abetnego Panca Putra Tarigan menyampaikan Presiden akan berkunjung ke Kabupaten Karo untuk melihat pembangunan Jalan Liang Melas Datas, Kecamatan Mardingding yang menggunakan dana APBN.
Meski banyak penyesuaian dari jadwal protokoler, Jokowi diagendakan tiba di Liang Melas Datas pukul 09.00 WIB, namun hingga saat ini belum diketahui jalur transportasi mana yang akan digunakan, darat atau udara.
Sementara itu, staf Kementerian PUPR, Yulian mengatakan pengerjaan peningkatan struktur Jalan Liang Melas Datas sudah dikerjakan. Dimana masa pelaksanaan pengerjaan tersebut adalah 2022-2023.
Rencananya, dalam kunjungan ke Karo, Jokowi akan didampingi Menteri Koordinator Bidang Kemaritiman dan Investasi, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Menteri Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif, Sandiaga Uno, Menteri Pekerjaan Umum dan Perumahan Rakyat, Basuki Hadimuljono dan Gubernur Sumatera Utara (Gubsu), Edy Rahmayadi.
Ia menuturkan, tujuan pembangunan jalan tersebut adalah untuk mempercepat waktu tempuh, menurunkan biaya logistik dan mempermudah pengangkutan komoditas pertanian.
Selain itu juga guna mendukung daerah dalam pengembangan kawasan Liang Melas Datas dan sekitarnya. Serta meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi Karo. **
